Estrus (heat)- 24-72 hours
Gestation- 150 days (145-155 is normal)
Goats Rumens are on their left side, so a pregnant female's kids are carried on her right

Birthing Kit ~~ Things to have available ;
*Old clean towels or paper towels. (For wiping/drying babies or off)
*Gentle Iodine or Beta-dine- To dip umbilical cords. Clean Scissors & plain dental floss. ( If umbilical cord is too long) It should be about 2 in.
*Nutri Drench - This is a high vitamin mineral that is good to give before or after kidding. I use for weak kid. Kids get it after 24 hrs. old.
*Heat lamp -if needed in frigid/cold temps.
* Heater blanket or hair dryer- for warming kids if kids temps are too low to drink
*Molasses- to give energy to Does after kidding(added to water) Also if needed to rub on gums of new kids to help them "wake up" and drink colostrum. (Karo syrup works too)
*Rubber gloves (up to elbow) In case you have to go in.
*Plastic bags for garbage. Liquid hand cleaner for yourself.
* Baking soda (floppy kid syndrome, to help with ph)
* Wait and remove afterbirth. About ½- 1Hr. after last kid is born.
***CDT shot given 30 days prior to kidding due date.
*Vitamin B complex gel & Selenium and Vit. E Gel
**Have a vet phone number available in case. I have him in my cell phone.

Wethers & Male Goats ; Need Ammonium Chloride to prevent Kidney Stones.
It is found in the loose minerals for goats. I use Manna Pro from Tractor Supply. I give it as a free chose (24/7) with there Baking Soda.
It is NOT found in there feed or mineral blocks.
